Tell us about yourself and your experience with the Tuscaloosa Co. Democratic Party. I have been involved mostly since covid so there isn’t much experience. I volunteered at HQ for several months and enjoyed helping and meeting other people.

What is your vision for the TCDP Executive Committee? What do you hope to work on as a committee member? To help Democrats without issue! Supporting and working with each other.

What talents do you have to bring to our volunteer efforts? I work well with others and I am dependable.

Tell us about yourself and your experience with the Tuscaloosa Co. Democratic Party. I helped Deborah Fowler when she ran for office an became a member. I prayed that I could become an asset to the party an learn as much as possible an to help our communities to stop the violence an vote!

What is your vision for the TCDP Executive Committee? What do you hope to work on as a committee member? I would like to register more voters in our communities an let them know that every vote counts. We must also unite together as one! We are only strongest as our weakest link!

What talents do you have to bring to our volunteer efforts? Definitely communication! We need this inside and outside of the party! I feel that I have great skills when this is needed with outreach. Communication is the key because I have worked with the public for over 45 years.

Tell us about yourself and your experience with the Tuscaloosa Co. Democratic Party. I was part of the party a few decades ago when I began working statewide campaigns, it took me away on meeting days but as a political activist for Democratic issues, I’ve always been actively involved crossing county lines for years training and helping other counties become established and informed while motivating the fight within. As a member of the SDEC for SDEC D62, we worked tirelessly to recruit and build the party membership back then. I helped secure the HQ we currently have working for the owner of the building and during the pandemic worked daily training volunteers and assisting people that came to the HQ. I attempted to create a TCDWomens group but Covid got in the way and it was paused. I’m running for Senate and am the Democratic nominee working to unseat 28 year incumbent Gerald Allen in District 21. I’ve been a very active member of candidate recruitment for Dems to run for office and help train equip and prepare candidates across the state to run for office. During the last 2 years Bonnie Black and I have been working tirelessly to bring Dems in our end of the county together.

What is your vision for the TCDP Executive Committee? What do you hope to work on as a committee member? Be part of the solution to the problem of ineffectiveness and divisiveness. There’s an ongoing issue with finding mutual ground to work effectively. Being the 9th largest county in the state, we are watched from afar statewide and should be more aware of the responsibility we have as leaders of a party with tools resources and the means to lead. We have taken many things for granted with capable leaders because of personal conflict. I hope to use my motivation and skills to help others work proactively. There’s room in this party for everyone, we just need to learn how to embrace our diversities and come together. Once we find that common ground, we can become unstoppable. My personality is stronger than most and I’m easily misunderstood because of it, but it comes from a good place. Hard work and relentless efforts to help all people especially the least among us become better sooner.

What talents do you have to bring to our volunteer efforts? I have the ability to motivate others and make them want to get involved. I tend to push people to do more than they think they’re capable of and I believe I execute well. If I say I’ll do it, I’m good to get it done. We all have many talents, some more than others but it’s what we do with the ones we have I consider. Having talents and not using them for the good isn’t effective at all so I like to think of myself as a spider. Versatile. I can go in any direction at any time. I don’t need a title to do the work and I not afraid to do the grunt work. My biggest asset is not spending energy on problems but rather focusing on finding solutions and moving on. I want to be part of effective committees. Those that can make a difference. No energy or time to waste days we can’t get back. I don’t do well in those environments.
