Tom Fanning
Tell us about yourself and your experience with the Tuscaloosa Co. Democratic Party. Throughout my adult life I have been a committed Democrat. I have been a Tuscaloosa County Committee member since 1997. During that time I have worked with and under six different committee chairs, each having their own style of leadership. I was treasurer of the county committee from 1997 until 2014. From 2014 until now I have served as a committee member, as vice chair, as acting chair, and as vice chair for seniors. During part of this time I have been a member of the fundraising committee and volunteered at headquarters when there was an established scheduled to follow.
What is your vision for the TCDP Executive Committee? What do you hope to work on as a committee member? My vision is that we would become more competitive in county and legislative races by identifying viable candidates and assisting them through funding and other means of support. I would like to continue to work on the fundraising committee and to assist with increasing voter turnout which will be the ultimate decider in various races.
What talents do you have to bring to our volunteer efforts? I have already mentioned my interest and commitment to fundraising. In addition, my interpersonal skills bring me in contact with a variety of voters in the community, and I try to represent Democratic values when I do. Finally, I am committed to core values and ethical standards which I believe are necessary in any successful organization.

Tell us about yourself and your experience with the Tuscaloosa Co. Democratic Party. Attended meetings and activities on behalf of the ADC Alabama Democratic Conference of Tuscaloosa County.
What is your vision for the TCDP Executive Committee? What do you hope to work on as a committee member? Recruitment of more registered voters to become members of the Democratic Party.
What talents do you have to bring to our volunteer efforts? Voter Restoration and registration. Radio media experience. Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Tell us about yourself and your experience with the Tuscaloosa Co. Democratic Party. I’ve been active with the party since 2017, and I’ve been on the committee since late 2019. I’ve volunteered in various capacities, especially with the Policy Resolutions committee, phone banking, and working with the campaigns of Will Benton and Rick Burnum.
What is your vision for the TCDP Executive Committee? What do you hope to work on as a committee member? I would like the TCDP Executive Committee to identify and support successful candidates for county-wide office as well as school board and county commission. We shouldn’t be satisfied with holding only one seat out on the commission.
What talents do you have to bring to our volunteer efforts? I have strong public speaking and analytic skills. However, I am also experiencing a long-term health issue that may prevent me from being as active with the committee as I might like to be. Voters should bear that in mind, as they may prefer a representative who can devote more attention to the party.
